This project started as an idea of breakfasts in bed and a beautiful handmade serving tray with ceramic tiles. I searched the internet and stumbled upon this painted tray.
Next, I surfed Pinterest to outline the mood I would want on my tray.
And searched local stores for the tiles, and found a collection that looked like a100% match.
I downloaded tiles images from the manufacturer site and made a mockup of the tray.
I bought the tiles, tried this and some other layouts, measured the actual size of the base, and sent the measures, along with the tray design reference, to the woodworker I knew via one of my previous projects.
In a few days my base tray was ready. I played with the layout again and chose the final one, used a special glue for ceramic tiles to attach the tiles to the base, waited 24 hours, and then filled in the spaces between tiles with epoxy grout.
